After 2 days break caused by a trip across the border I was to training. I woke up a bit later than planned and by the time I made it out of the house it was pretty warm already.
The idea was to run up to Sir Cecil’s Ride and then continue towards Mt. Parker Rd, cross the road, continue toward the small bridge on Hong Pak Country Trail, turn around and go the same way back – total about 10km.
It took me a while to make the legs feel right. But once I got them moving well I was feeling quite OK. I jogged/ran happily all the way to that bridge. There I paused, looked around and saw people higher above me walking on Mt. Parker Road. I started getting ideas …
I turned back as planned and ran back to Mt. Parker Road. But instead of continuing back home on Sir Cecil’s I turned left. I was running uphill towards Tai Fung Au. I did not plan that. But I felt good so why not. Up at Tai Fung Au made a quick pit stop at the toilets and turned back. Quick run towards the Sir Cecil’s junction, left turn and back home. Once on Sir Cecil’s again I started to feel the familiar summer weakness in the legs – the heat and humidity affect me a lot. It was not that bad this time but I can see what to expect once the summer proper hits.
Overall – nice quick short morning run with a bit extra hill climb.
