2015 TDS Training – Run no. 9 – Thursday morning Parker #3

Thursday morning, so back to Mt. Parker. Hay fever is seriously killing me. It hits me every year sometime in the summer. So I guess there is something in the air that is not good for me…

I felt tired. Some decent mileage in the legs, barely 10 hours since my last night track session + the hay fever. Good combo ahead of run up from 0 to about 500m…

I jogged slowly from North Point to Quarry Bay, fast would be impossible anyway with all the people around. I picked up the pace a bit once on Mt. Parker Road. I tried to keep the pace steady for at least first 3km to Tai Fung Au. I more less managed it but there was about 50-100m section where I had enough and had to slow down to almost walking pace.

From Tai Fung Au I started to alternate between jogging and fast hiking. I might have been a bit slower than a week ago (it felt that way) but I definitely did more jogging this time on this last 1.5km section. I pause for few second to cool down a bit by the water pipe. Lots of people hike all the way up here to fill up water containers with this fresh spring water. I never tasted it before. I decided to try it this time. I took a sip expecting something fresh tasting. But to my disappointment it tasted quite bitter. I guess I won’t be bringing with me any huge water jugs to fill up…

Back to running – the rest of the climb went OK. At the top I stopped for a bit, took the usual summit photo and jogged back.

Another week, another "view" of Tai Tam from Mt. Parker

I was not as confident as last week. My legs felt week so I was running down the road in relaxed mode. No incidents on the downhill and I was back in Quarry Bay rather quickly.

The jog back to North Point was quite a pain as the sidewalks were really packed with people, it was more like people slalom. But all good …

I hope to soon extend these Thursday runs to Tai Tam but for that I will have to feel better than today …
