My Gear

Short list of the gear I am using:

Shoes:

ASICS Gel Kayano 18 (retired) – road running
ASICS Gel Kayano 19 – road running
Salomon Mission XR Blue – trail running, tried, but did not work for me at all
ASICS Fuji Gel Trabuco 2 – my trail shoes of choice at the moment
Inov8 Road-X LITE 155 – free shoes that I won as a prize, too minimalist for me but using them for short easy jogs on track
Brooks Cascadia 9 (retired) – Trying something new for a change
Brooks Cascadia 10 (retired) – not a perfect replacement for now hard to find Trabuco 2, too narrow toe box for me
Hoka One One ATR Challenger – loved them at first but somehow not too keen on running in them any more
ASICS Fuji Gel Trabuco 4 – my best trail shoes ever!
Mizuno Wave Mujin 3

Socks:

Compressport Grip 3D Dots – did not really work for me, blisters, blisters, blisters…
Injinji Men’s Trail Midweight Mini Crew Toesocks – my feet and toes love them, blister problems are history

Compression:

Compressport R2 (for calves) – they work great for me
Skins A400 Men’s Compression Long Tights – I won these as a winner’s prize at MSIG Lantau and they are great!
2XU Compression Tights – served me well but I must say I prefer the Skins
Skins compression underwear – helping me survive while my ribs were damaged, also found them good as base layer during the cooler months in Hong Kong
OR Running Shorts
AWOO Compression Tights
AWOO Running Shorts

Backpacks:

Raidlight Olmo 12 – I really like this one
UD AK – great for medium long runs
UD SJ – good for ultras but require careful packing to fit all the stuff in
(I will not place the UD bottle in the front pockets ever again though…)

Headlamp:

Black Diamond STORM Headlamp – Not bad as a back up light
Ay Up Run Kit – powerful headlamp

Shades:

AMO Ironcatcher sunglasses

Poles:

Black Diamond Ultra Distance Trekking Z-Poles – Super light, served me great during the UTMB CCC.

Shirts and jackets and other garments:

AWOO The Jersey with elastic sleeves – I designed it I am racing in it :-)
Nike black long sleeve thermal shirt – awesome for the Hong Kong style cooler days
Salomon Bonatti Light Jacket – works great for me
Montane Minimums Smock – light waterproof jacket (used as part of UTMB compulsory equipment)
Montane Minimums Pants – light waterproof overpants (used as part of UTMB compulsory equipment)
